Hemp Oil Versus CBD Oil: What’s The Difference?

By Katie Rucke  @katierucke | July 15, 2014 Confusion amongst the public on how exactly hemp oil differs from cannabidiol, or CBD, oil, has prompted the nonprofit Hemp Industries Association to issue a statement explaining the difference between the oils in order to ensure that consumers — specifically, medical marijuana patients — are not misled about the intended uses. Research Team Finds How CBD, a Component in Marijuana, Works Within Cells

The findings published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry could provide a new basis for developing CBD-based treatments for pediatric epilepsy Newswise — STONY BROOK, N.Y., February 11, 2015 – A team of Stony Brook University researchers have identified fatty acid binding proteins (FABPs) as intracellular transporters for two ingredients in marijuana, THC and CBD (cannabidiol). The finding, published early online in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, is significant because it helps explain how CBD works within the cells. Recent clinical findings have shown that CBD may help reduce seizures and could be a potential new medicine to treat pediatric treatment-resistant epilepsy….

As of yet, the scientific community has yet to establish cannabis’ effectiveness at treating epilepsy, nor its side effects – both alone and in combination with other medications. One study presented at the meeting indicated that parents who moved to Colorado to access cannabis were three times more likely to report it helped their children than…
