Kitchen Kush: Coconanaberry smoothie (recipe)

I think that a marijuana-enhanced smoothie is a dream come true. A tall, frothy glass of blended fruits and vegetables, with key ingredients that were previously sautéed in canna-coconut oil. When making canna-coconut oil for marijuana recipes, the oil absorbs the THC with the addition of imparting a mild coconut flavor, a flavor that can be enhanced with shredded or flaked coconut, coconut extract, coconut milk or coconut water. The highest saturated fat content of any oil, coconut is the best for drawing out the THC in your weed. It also comes flavorless and can be used as a substitute for butter or other oils….

Sexing Your Outdoor Marijuana Plants

The sex of your plants is genetically determined but is also influenced by the environment. The cannabis plant has two pairs of sex chromosomes, one of which carries the genes that determine sex. As with humans, these are either X or Y. Male plants have the XY chromosome while females are XX. In nature, each grouping has a roughly 50:50 chance of occurring per seed, but in your garden you can control male to female ratios once you learn to recognize what each gender looks like. Identifying Females Female marijuana flowers, which start to appear later than those of the…

Watering Tips And Techniques For Outdoor Marijuana Growers

Watering needs depend on your growing site’s location and the genetics of your crop. If you have a fairly humble-sized crop, then various hand-watering methods should suffice. Some marijuana growers haul water out to their site and then use watering pots or run hoses from a large container to their site. If you have been able to find a site that is fairly close to water, and you have a small number of plants, it may make the most sense to refill from the source and carry the water back and forth. This limits your liability since you’ll never be…

Dr. Oz Thought Cannabis was a “Communist Plot”–and Now Supports Medical Marijuana

Dr. Oz has joined Sanjay Gutpa as a notable, respected celebrity doctor to give medical marijuana an endorsement. Dr. Oz recently stated in an interview that prohibition is akin to a communist plot led by delusional propaganda and manipulative anti-weed schemes. And he’s right. Just like Gupta, the recent media storm surrounding medical marijuana has swayed his opinion. During a recent interview with Larry King, King asked Dr. Oz if his views on medical marijuana–which used to be pessimistic–have changed and evolved thanks to better scientific information. Dr. Oz’s response was both eloquent and accurate. “I have,” Oz responded, and went on to…

NFL to lighten up on pot?

According to ESPN.com sources, the NFL is reworking it’s drug policy to include a “higher threshold” for marijuana tests and reduce the penalties for athletes caught in violation of the league rules.  According to the source, the move could align the NFL with current World Anti-Doping Agency rules that set a 150 nanogram-per-milliliter limit on latent – or inactive – THC metabolites in a player’s system at the time of the test or at the time of competition. While everyone is different, most agree that it means players can toke up until about a week before their pre-game/match/race testing. Interestingly, the talks on the NFL…

Call it Grand Theft Auto for the marijuana minded. You know it’s 2014 when a controversial new iPhone game allows players to grow and sell marijuana in simulated weed-dealer play. And Weed Firm — an iPhone game featuring growing and dealing, crooked cops, ruthless gangsters and promiscuous ladies released May 5 — hit No. 1 on Apple’s iTunes’ free games chart in the U.S. on May 19. A quick look at the app’s iTunes rating shows that it’s rated for gamers 17 and older for “frequent/intense alcohol, tobacco or drug use or references” and “frequent/intense mature/suggestive themes.” To boot, the game has…

Poll: Americans prefer legal pot over online gambling

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Americans are split over whether marijuana should be legalized for recreational use, according to a poll released Thursday. But the same poll finds them solidly opposed to online gambling. The Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind poll finds that 50 percent of Americans favor legalizing marijuana use, while 27 percent support legalizing Internet gambling in the 47 states that don’t allow it. The poll examined public attitudes about two activities that are taking place whether legal or not, said Krista Jenkins, the poll’s director and a professor of political science at the university. Far more Americans are paying…

From seed to weed: What does it take for your green to grow?

Few people who are picking up veggies in the grocery story give much thought to how long it takes food to get from farm to shelf. And in the same way, while it takes just moments to purchase marijuana at a dispensary, it can take nearly seven weeks to grow a harvestable plant from seed. The first decision is choosing which strain of marijuana to grow – indica, sativa or a hybrid of the two. Indicas tend to be more relaxing, while sativas are more stimulating. Marijuana aficionados often cultivate hybrids for the specific flavor, scent and effect they’re going…

Colo. lawmakers explore sealing records on past pot convictions

Marijuana convictions that predate current Colorado law could be sealed under a bipartisan proposal being floated inside the Capitol — a move, say some lawmakers and marijuana advocates, that could potentially impact thousands of Coloradans. The proposal, sponsored by Sens. Jessie Ulibarri, D-Westminster, and Vicki Marble, R-Fort Collins, allows anyone convicted of a marijuana offense, which would now be legal under Amendment 64, to have their records sealed. Also, a draft of the bill says that a person convicted of “any other marijuana offense” beyond the scope of Amendment 64 would also be allowed to file a petition with a…
